Our course and selected products
Television and promoting media (01) is a 1 hour 45 minute examination including viewing; Music and news (02) is a 1 hour 15 minute examination. Each is worth 70 marks and 35%. Creating media (03/04) is worth 30%. There are no tiers. MED codes organise the content here; they are not OCR entry codes.
Study Vigil Series 1 Episode 1, The Avengers: The Gravediggers, The Lego Movie promotion and game, MOJO, BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge and The Observer. Our chosen music videos are Avril Lavigne's Sk8er Boi and Wheatus's Teenage Dirtbag. Our NEA route is a magazine cover and double-page spread.
Your teacher selects the required MOJO issues, qualifying complete Live Lounge episode and dated contemporary Observer material. Use those actual products for analysis. The notes and PLC tasks explain what to investigate without inventing the selections. Your teacher supplies the certification-year live magazine brief, including its genre, audience and exact requirements.
The Observer ownership changes by assessment route: June 2026 uses pre-sale GMG/Scott Trust material; first teaching September 2025, first assessment June 2027 uses Tortoise's Observer. Follow the route and dated examples confirmed by your teacher. Both contexts are explained in the news units.
Quick checks support knowledge and interpretation. Extended answers need located evidence and reasoned judgement; original production needs your own practical work. The original diagrams are teaching schematics rather than reproductions of commercial media products.
